The New Year brings the first publication from one of our authors, Emma And Her Daughter. This is the third novel in Linda Mitchelmore’s trilogy set in South Devon. Linda has already received fantastic reviews for To Turn Full Circle and Emma: There’s No Turning Back. But don’t let me waffle on, here is the author herself talking about her novels.

“I didn’t set out to write a trilogy, much as many parents don’t set out to have a third child … they sort of come along in their own time, to bring balance to life. I wrote TO TURN FULL CIRCLE as a stand alone novel, but the second I’d written THE END I knew that wasn’t the end of my heroine’s story. And so EMMA: THERE’S NO TURNING BACK was born. And the same thing happened again! Emma’s dearest wish, her deepest longing – to have a child of her own – hadn’t been fulfilled. I wanted that for her. And so I wrote on.
EMMA AND HER DAUGHTER is the third book in my ‘Emma’ trilogy, published by Choc Lit. As the first two books were, it is set in Devon, England. This book opens in 1927 when Emma and her daughter, Fleur (well, much-loved stepdaughter) return from Canada. Emma is now a widow and has to earn money to support them both. Although Emma’s husband, Seth, left them well-provided for, that money won’t last forever. In books one and two, Emma had run baking businesses, but I felt for her to be doing the same thing in book three would be a tarte Tatin and a crab soup too far. So I took Emma out of the kitchen and turned her into a dressmaker with an atelier full of fabulous fabrics. The 1920s was a very interesting time for women and I had a wonderful time looking through back copies of Vogue and biographies of Coco Chanel, and books on fashions and food and transport of the times. But it’s not all fancy frocks for Emma … her dearest wish has yet to be fulfilled. Will a man from Emma’s past, who has always had a piece of her heart, be the man to do help her? Matthew Caunter, Emma wants to know – where might he be? Well, he’s nearer than she thinks … but you’ll need to read EMMA AND HER DAUGHTER for yourself to find out what happens next.”
